Asha quickly became a role model amongst her peers and through the mentorship she was able to channel her love of the arts into a movement that became a face for the NPO. “Free Love Affirm” also known as Free L.A, is focused in the industry of Arts & Entertainment. Since 2009, it has given opportunities for aspiring and seasoned artists alike in local communities, not only to be showcased, but to promote excellence and authenticity in each of their individual crafts. Knowing the impact that Media & Entertainment has on our society, Free L.A has made it priority to equip artists with the 'know-how' to become effective leaders that will direct a generation away from ignorance and progressively into a productive change. Asha's goal is to develop leaders for each of these communities in different cities all around the world, which will redefine common misconceptions about young people. Through this belief, Break N' Out (Mentoring Program for Youth) has enriched the lives of many.
The Break N' Out program was launched in 2008. We work with homeless adults, low income, and at-risk youth throughout Los Angeles County. We do this by partnering with government agencies (Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles, school districts, and other non-profits.) We serve a community of creative individuals with immeasurable amounts of talent in the arts & entertainment world but they don't always have the access to resources that bring their creativity to fruition. Many find themselves struggling with basic needs; looking for work, housing, and lacking food & hygienic care. Unable to cope with many of these challenges, some of the most talented artist inevitably find themselves on a destructive path of drugs, depression and suicidal thoughts. CBFreeLA's goal is to help these artists maintain stability, assist them in practical daily matters, and discover their purpose by fostering their talents. We offer classes on a variety of topics that develop skills needed to maintain a healthy self-image and build trustworthy relationships that will produce effective leaders in the community at large.
Additionally, we provide artists with practical training in both the creative and business sides of the entertainment industry. Courses are designed to replace negative challenges with extremely positive ones that build confidence. With youth run events like the "Blackout" & "Real Talk" our 'Empowerment Coaches' inspire the youth with new perspectives on reaching their goals. Food and transportation is provided to all the attendees of our classes as well as transportation to our events and concerts throughout Southern California. We are growing rapidly and would like to be able to transport more youth, especially those in foster care and group homes. Our overall goal is to have a facility that serves as a production house for every facet of the arts, music, video game design and film endeavors; it will provide our community with instructional space, training workshops and artistic development modules.
